Throttle Loose
Help!
I was out last night on my bike and shut the throttle off on the handle bars and stopped it against the ends stops, but the throttle grip and the housing moved! The throttle grip unit on the handle bars must have been loose, and I have moved it :( The whole unit can now be twisted (throttle grip, and the black unit where the switches are located) I am going to have a look at it tonight and have looked at the blow up schematics that where on this site, but they dont seem to give a lot away. It looks like 2 screws hold the black housing together but they dont actually tell u what is inside the housing or how the unit will be fixed and tightened to the handle bars. How does the throttle grip and black unit attach to the handle bars and is there anything in there that will cause me major grief? Cheers |
There's a little plastic lug that locates in a hole on the clip-on, the jug itself is very delicate and brakes off
It happened to me  .......one way of sorting it is to drill a small hole and get a self tapping screw in there to hold it on the bars, what i did was turn a small piece of stainless steel to pit perfectly and then glued it in place 8) |
I just wrapped a bit of tape round the bars after I did that. The actual assembly's reasonably straightforward to much about with, and all you really need to do is loosen the screws right off, slide it along the bar, then add your tape and sldie it back (if you do it my way anyway)

Cheers Guys!
I will have a look tonight 8) To be honest I dont have the tools to make a pin or a drill  so i think i am gonna have to go with the tape idea. Just want it fixed for the weekend cause the weather is looking good and me and my mate (GSXR600) and his wife (cbr400) are hoping to go down into the borders to St Mary Loch :D to meet some folk! yeha! |
Fixed my throttle last night.
The picture is the hole where the plastic lug fits in! I can believe that the throttle unit is held in place by such a small hole and bit of plastic! :O http://upload4.postimage.org/1207627/CIMG0001.jpg Oh and Does anyone know of a good website or scrappy i could get the plastic throttle unit part? I removed the locating pin from both sides on my naked curvy when I put Renthals on it. I've not had a problem with the controls moving.
