Bad day in Derbyshire

Went for a run around some of my fav roads today. I've been riding the Cat & Fiddle for twenty five years and never seen a bike down, but today there were two. A newish GSXR close to the pub on the Macc side. Write off. Then while we were sat at the pub having a brew, lads coming in were talking about an off down at the Buxton end. We went off this way heading towards the Snake and saw the aftermath. Looked like a CBR600 into the armco. There was a red curvey S leaving the scene after the ambulance. Shot across to the Snake and the road was closed in the Sheffield to Manc direction. The guy at the barrier told me it was another bike shunt with a car. Road had been closed for hours.

Hope the riders are all ok. Take it easy guys. Ride safe, we don't have to fit it all into these last few good days of summer. Plenty more summers to come.

That was one of my mates, it was a VFR400. Broke his leg in at least 2 places. The SV will have been Biker-Dene off this forum. It was a bad accident, but I didn't see it because we had decided to hang back. It's been a **** day :(

I managed to drop my bike for the first time today. Partly my own fault, partly a greasy road and party bad signs. I was approachin a bend on a road I'd never ridden before at a reasonable speed and started braking. As I rounded the bend there was a level crossing. I knew the bike would go out on me the second the tyres hit the rails so I braked harder and tried to get the bike as close to upright as possible. The front wheel didn't sgree with this dcision and decided to slip out on me and allow me to meet the road! I was only doing about 20mph when I dropped it and I'm fine apart from a slightly bruised knee and a little dented rpide. The bikes going to need:

New upper right fairing panel
New RHS front indicator
New rear brake lever

And that's about it. So it's not too bad to be honest.

Glad there's little damage on your bike mate, my mate wasn't so lucky. He's smashed his hip to bits, broke his ankle + leg, internal bleeding + he's on a chest drain now in hospital. They had to resus him in the ambulance on the way :(

Thats terrible! Hope he is ok. :(

That's terrible.

I hope he makes a good recovery.

Matt - sounds nasty, but we've seen folk on here suffer similar injuries and go on to make a fairly good recovery if that's any encouragement to him. Wish him my best.

Any news on our Biker-Dene anyone :?:

I used to live on the Sheffield end of Snake - nice/nasty road depending on what way up your bike is and how numpty the car drivers are being.
