Tyre pressure & pillion
Ola!
Going to give my first pillion ride later on today. Hooray! Just checked m tires & frontis 31 back is 33. Now I know that the recoomended pressure is 33 & 36, but should I get the pressure pumped up? We'll only be doing 10-15 miles. London roads. Should've busted my pillion virginity yesterday but my pillion-to-be ended up giving me a backie on her Guzzi. Dirk |
On the chain guard should be a little sticker with the tyre pressures on it ? IIRC it has values for solo and when riding with a pillion, whats it say on that ?
|
yeah - it states 33 & 36. Just wondering how paranoid I'm being - I weigh sub 10 stone & she weighs, dunno, 5ft3, slim build - 8 stone?
So we're not tubby tuckers.... |
I've always left mine standard, I find the best type of pillion is female and attractive, :D I've never had trouble. I think that some people wind up the rear pre-load. I think this has come up before have a bit of a search and see if you can find any more info.
|
safe not sorry - I have just spent 20p getting an extra 2 psi in teh front & 3 in the back.
Paranoia over! |
For 10-15miles I wouldn't bother fiddling with the pre-load either, particularly since neither of you are bloaters.
|
Standard pressures are fine until you hit the open road. Then I tend to run 36f 42R but I'm a bloater so total weight in bike is 25st or more with a pillion. Always run full pre-load with a pillion to.
