service?

my 99 curvy has done 13000 miles & had 4 services
1st service 23/7/99.628 miles
.................13/05/00.4200m
.................12/06/02.8900m
.................6/04/06.12000m

so the will next service be a major one? my bike has been serviced every 4000miles is this the norm? i will do the minors myself, but what should be done at 16000(how much££)

the garage has quoted £120 for braided hoese all round(i cant stand bleeding brakes) but what else should be done??

BILLY 24-09-06 08:31 PM

Valve clearences checked and ajusted if ness.

I think Liz paid around £185 for her 16500 mile service. As Billy says, Valve Clearances are the main thing with this one plus all the other usual stuff.

When were the hoses last changed ? Haynes manual says change the brake fluid every two years and change the hoses every 4.

£120 seems a bit steep for braided hoses.. but I havent got anything to compare the price with.

Is this the same garage that charged you for 3 batteries in the same week and flogged you a dodgy reg /rec ?

If so I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole, I'd be going somewhere else to get the work done.

i dont think the hoses have ever been changed.

i only had 1 dodgy battery & that was not from him but the reg was, which i will get a full refund for

A set of hoses cost about £60, so they are charging you £60 to fit them! Thats about 2 hours labour, which is about an hour more than it takes.

Depends on what brake line setup they are going for and which hoses they plan on using. I have seen Some 3 line kits closer to the £75-80 mark which would leave about £40 to fit them. I thought labour was closer to £40 a hour (Or is that just in London  ). Doesn't seem overly expensive to me :?
