blueflame can - jetting?

i just bought a curvy sv650 sk1. it has a blue flame can. i think it might need rejetting as the bike seams to stop picking up power over 8k rpm. is this normal?

Sounds like it's restricted

its running lean. i checked the plug today and it is grey. one of the baffles has had the end cut off. can i just change the jet or do i need a dynojet kit

I didnt re-jet when I fitted my blue flame can. I've got both baffles out and my bike runs fine. No problems going 8k I've had the bike on the rev limiter several times.

I was told by the sales guy at blue flame that it didnt need a re-jet, It would probably make a litte more BHP with a rejet but I can be bothered with doing it.

As for the power over 8K, I've noticed that the bike definately dips in performance when you get near to the rev limit, I cant remember where peak power is, but its not near the red line on the rev counter. Theres no point reving the nuts off the SV all the way to the red line. Its better to change up around the 8K - 9K mark and ride the torque.

the spark plug is grey - this means it is running a bit lean dosent it?

Get a base run done on a dyno. A few shops will run it and give you a bit of advice for about a tenner. Well the one near me does, they don't tune or mess with it just run and measure the peak power. Very basic but ends a lot of maybes and hypothetical BS.

According to the haynes manual normal condition for a plug is Tan / Greg, so if yours is Grey then the fueling oughta be OK.

Any chance you can take a picture of it. So that somebody more knowledgable than me can take a look at it.

I have a twin port blue flame on my 02 sv and didn't do anything - just fitted the can and enjoyed. I have both the baffles in though  Its done 4500 miles like that and never had a problem!
