Many postmen rely on door-to-door unaddressed mail for a bonus, they get paid diddly squat as it is. It doesn't cost you anything, just put it staight in the recycling.

No it doesn't cost me personally anything, but it costs money and uses up energy to recycle it.

I normally put the junk mail in the returning envelope (including the envelope that it arrived in) and send it back to them! :D

Needless to say my junk maill quota has significantly reduced! :)

I've used this approach as well but I've added a little twist to it...

I get junk mail from company "A" and from company "B", put all the Company"A" into the return envalope for company "B" and do the same for the other...

Makes me chuckle every time.

Think there are two different things here.

Trickys' post is to stop the unaddressed 'hand delivered by your postman' crap that makes up 25% of your mail, whilst the mail preference service is to help stop the addressed and post paid crap that makes up another 25%.
