Anyone use Norton Ghost?

Is it any good? It came bundled with my new PC, is it worth using?

Have used it once to create an image of a Windows XP installation, worked fine for me. TBH i'm not even sure what else it can be used for - i only used it after a quick google search for a program that would do what I was trying to do. :smt102

I didn't leave it installed though, used it once then got rid. Mind you, I soon got shut of EVERY bit of Norton software on my PC cos they were slowing it down waaaay too much.

I'd happily use it again if the need arose though.

the word Norton makes me shudder, Virus's do less harm.

I use it at work, usually for creating disk images of PC's to re-install windows usually in less than 20 minutes, compared to re-installing windows from scratch.

Also usefull if you want to swapp your hard disk for a bigger one.

Usefull tool, for me at least and I am a techie.

We use it work to image Pc's, have two PC's a desk on 14 desks all the same, One image loads all the default icons and programs we need to run the office. Only need to change the IP and fiddle with the identity files on the communication programs to make each machine unique.

Acronis produce far better software for the same job.

Only Norton products I've ever tried are the Anti Virus and Firewalls ones. Soon took them off again. Boy are they processor hungry. Also they tie up your machine way beyond what is needed. Personally, I would stay clear of Norton. There are so many more and better products out there.
