SV650 front fork specs

Everyone who has taken a ride on the sv650 knows the supension is top notch. This is why I am wanting to add the suspension to a restored '79 cafe racer I am working on. This is the best sv650 forum around. I was hoping someone here would be kind enough to give the tech specs on the front and rear ends. The standard meausrements would be very nice. Cheers.

Its poo, 41mm forks. Most peeps upgrade with better springs etc. I would just go and get some GSXR stuff and is USD is not the look you want then look at the SRAD 600 GSXR stuff as its RWU.

Well you got that part right. However with some better springs and oil you can make them better.

It is 70's technology!

70s door-closer technology :) But Ben's right, it's not crap, it's just not very good.

Mohow, how heavy's that caff racer? And how heavy's it's pilot? :) As TSM says there's other fork options that look traditional, such as SRAD GSXRs and the version straight after, and work far better. More adustable too, which is good when you're doing swaps- SV forks have only external preload adjustment at best, none at worst, so unless they're spot on for your bike (which they won't be) it'll be a bit of a fight to get them working well. Can be expensive too.

I'm not going for a tradional look so styling isn't that much of a hang-up. I am looking to possibly put on a usd set as well. The front suspension would also be newer than the 70's. My brother has a 2004 sv650. I really like the supsension there. I was looking for something in the same family to go on my 79 cb 650. The frame and engine are from a cb 650 most the rest is not.
Here is a similar end of where I am headed. Mine will be a bit more...nostalgic.

That's brilliant, that one... Tail's maybe a little out of proportion, but still ace.

Another thing to consider is that SV bits aren't that cheap either- A lot of SVs get crashed, so the bits are in demand. I sold my SV front end for more than I paid for my 2002 GSXR front end...
