Adjustable clutch lever

Anyone ever managed to fit an adjustable reach clutch lever to a curvey naked? I've read the faq suggesting a GPZ lever, but they're black and I need a metal coloured one.

Anyone managed to get a silver one off of another bike to fit. I guess getting another front brake lever and fitting it upside down is not going to work.

Ideas?

Don't mean to get off subject, but is your avatar a car, or a sidecar outfit outfit with a really exotic fairing?

It's the new winter fairing option for us naked SV riders.

I think an ER5 clutch lever and perch work, I got a gixxer perch with a differant freeplay adjuster which you can adjust one handed

It's a car with the door removed, the picture's been about for a few years.

Re: clutch lever, the adjustable ones for the SV thou' and most other adjustable levers won't fit as they're for Hydraulic clutches. But as mentioned above you should be able to fit the clutch lever and the perch it attaches to from another bike provided it's cable operated.

But why would you?

If the lever's too far away for comfort loosen the cable adjuster and slacken it a dab, which does the same as fitting an adjustable lever - it doesn't pull the cable as far, as long as the clutch lifts fully you can set the lever wherever you like.

If you just slacken the cable it does obviously change the bite point, but causes a few problems.

Firstly you get a floppy lever.
Secondly (as I discovered) all that slack flying around allows the clutch cable outer to move about then catch on the adjuster and/or drop out. This gives you either a clutch that doesn't fully disengage, doesn't engage or does not work at all none of which are good poisitions to be in while out and about.

For now I've slackened the cable right off and used an old piece of fuel line to insert a dummy stop between the lever and the lever mounting point. This gives me a firm lever but closer to the bars and no floppyness.

I can not see why you get an adjustable reach brake lever yet the clutch lever that you use more often is fixed. Surely Mr. Suzuki could have spent the extra fiver per bike to make them both adjustable.

That would be mine then :D I didn't like having one black lever and one silver so I replaced the brake lever with a black anodised one - pattern part - cheap as chips. I think the bike looks a whole sight better with black levers anyway.
