has my new rear tyre had it
 

i was on my way home from work this moring (work nights) and a rabbit run under my bike i felt it go under my rear wheel, sad i know but i did not think anything else of it after it happened, carried on, hit the bypass doing a steady 75 for around 10 mins then when coming to a stop i hear a noise from the rear so pull off the bypass and pull over what has happened is the numberplate has come away as the plastic part of the undertray that the bracket is attached to has cracked, the number plate has caught the rear wheel and been dragged under the hugger. the only part left was the metal bracket and a small part of the plate that is screwed to it this has got stuck in the hugger and it has done this to my tyre.

this is round the entire right hand edge. This is a brand new tyre only covered 150 miles and i am guessing the tyre is f***ed now :cry

Can't see from pictures very easily - but is this not just significant wear in your chicken strips area. i.e. an area that is built to take wear but you probably won't be needing it (I of course would! :lol: ) Therefore should be ok to carry on?

hard to see how deep it is from the pics, but as Stu said, it is in an area you probably wont use on the road so dont worry about it.

trust me guys i do use the edge often both of them as my knee sliders show

I beg to differ on that one. Haven't got the sliders to show for it, but my pegs are no longer shiny. :lol:

Can't really see how deep it is from the pics. Looks not too bad though.

From the pics it looks like the surface is a bit roughed up, if it's a propper gouge then it may be different, but I'd have thought it'd be ok.

over did wearing down my last rear, and 6 carcase wires where showing,
still didn`t pop :shock:
looks like that is within the wear limit anyway (from the cut of the treads), so recon you will get away with it.
you should at least get some more wear from it.

I'd get the sandpaper at it to at least smooth it out before riding. Wouldn't want to slip out due to dodgy tread. :)
