Broken cam plate detent

Would this be the reason why I'm missing a gear (I think it's 1st gear I can't find as well as neutral) It's the only reason I can see for my problem!!!

Would this just be wear and tear?

Time to find out how much Mr suzuki wants to rob me off this time.

PM on its way...

Cheers bud. :)

On a side note to let anyone know, phoned fowlers to get hold of a k5 cam plate and it turns out that not only do fowlers not stock them but Suzuki haven't even designated the part with a part number so it'd need to be sorted out in Japan and be shipped over.

Wasn't fowlers fault I guess....it was fowlers fault for not selling me the part whe I told them it was a 99 sv I had, not a 2005 one like I may have implied.

3 times I have used fowlers, 2 times I have been really quite cross at their attitude/policy. :x

eh i can see where they are confused...cause i am...so have you a 99 or a K5???

Get the factory pro one, it may even be a similer cost but better.

They quoted roughly £45 & vat. The factory pro one I saw was nearer $200  Although I'd love one, I want to keep that kind of expense for the cam swap/system/dynojet/air filter/bandit rear wheel/twin ixil cans that will all come the next 6 months.

sv racer - Got a 1999 model but asked for a k5 part...once I told them I had a 1999 model, they jsut didn't want to deal with me and flat refused to order the part.

For the $200 you get the star/spring/detent arm.

You can just buy the star if you want, have you tried JHS?

instigator 03-10-06 03:45 PM

Not tried JHS, Northwind has kindly offered his old one up which I have accepted :D Kudos to that man.

northwind 03-10-06 06:53 PM

Hmm, turns out it's 25381-19F00, "plate, gear shif" and costs $22.32. Fowlers have been telling porcupines.

The K5 and 6 part is 25381-19F10... I've never seen one, but from riding K3s and K5s, and my own as standard and with the Factory Pro one, I reckon it's very similiar to the factory pro part's profiles. The detent arm is the same, I think, and will probably still have the riveted roller instead of the teeny bearing on the Factory Pro one. But it does cost a fair bit less ;)

Factory Pro one's not remotely worth the money on a road bike, IMO, unless you get the arm for £10 off Ebay including the gasket, and then you order the Evo star and as a result of a massive ****-up at the company and them taking your money for 5 months and not posting it, you get one for the price of postage. Then it's worth it :)
