oh, im leaking oil too UPDATE

yesterday i noticed a few drops of oil at cribbs checked the sump & it was a bit oily
trouble is its hard to see the window with my lowers(i am replacing with suzuki ones next week)

tere is a nut & a allan bolt on the sump(what r they ) i will check them , mybee the sump washer is no good

i have had my fair share of problems with this bike, & honestly thinking of getting rid of it
but i dont want to.........if i did i would get the exsact same bike but a bit newer?

as i have said b4 i dont know a lot about bikes, & its expensive to take to a shop all the time

I thought I had an oil leak when I first got my SV, I had the Scotoiler turned up to high and it wasnt engine oil it was chain lube / Scotoil dripping off the engine where it had flung off around the front sprocket.

Did you lube your chain before you went for a ride and its flung off the chain lube and now its dripping off...

Just a thought.

just had a look in the round window(no playschool jokes please)

when bike is on stand....no oil, pull bike upright the oil starts to fill up....this is right is it not?

there is a tiny bit of oil on the right side engine cover

this is right, on side stand it would appear empty.

That's exactly how you should check and that is normal.

I warm the engine, leave for 5 minutes then crouch down on the RHS of the bike and pull it towards me until it balances upright - if it falls to the left it lands on the stand, if it falls to the right it leans on me! - The oil needs to be between the 2 marks ont eh round window.

Is the oil coming from the left or right hand side of the block? Do you have a Scottoiler? Lubeman?

hovis 08-10-06 09:03 AM

right side, no scottoiler/lubeman

Did you fit your lowers your self if so did you replace the rubber O ring on the bottom bolt of the side casing where the fairing bracket goes?

they were on when i got it, but i am repacing them with suzuki ones next week

so i will check this out
