Can anybody recommend a good chain roughly 1.5m long for less than £100??

Somebody recommended an Oxford chain and lock but I read on another thread that these are easy to get through…

I’ve got a Datatool system 3 alarm, Oxford disc lock (not the alarmed model) and have just bought a Datatool ground anchor but need a chain to chain the bike to anchor.

Ideally I’d prefer the not to be too bulky as I will need to stick it under the seat to use when the bike is parked away from home but I understand it need to be relatively big to do it’s job…

Any advice would be much appreciated as you guys probably know quite a bit about security

Unfortunately there is no useful chain that will fit under the seat of the SV - there is just not enough space under there :(

Do you think it would be best to buy 2, one big lock for using at home with a ground anchor and a smaller one to use when out and about just to use as a deterant?

Excellent idea - I actually carry a big lock around with me, but that is on my Inazuma which has bags of underseat storage.

The other thing you can do is leave the chain at work but if you leave it outside then make sure you remove the cover so that if someone attacks it overnight and "fixes" it with a zip tie you will be able to spot the damage.

Remember chaining to something is far better than chaining to nothing......

The number of bikes I see parked in London with a chain just around the back wheel when there is a good post nearby!

mine hasnt, so i might get a oxford disc lock alarm (any good)

You can get a little chain bag that fits onto the pillion seat. Carries my 1.5M diamond hard chain no problem.

I can recommend the diamond security stuff, the chain and lock resisted repeated attacks by 'travellers' trying to break into a field to set up an illegal camp. They used acetelene torches, nitrogen to freeze it, grinders and so on. Eventually they gave up and wrecked the gate instead. Go here Diamond Security

Not got one myself, but really wish I had.

Most the other stuff on the market is relative junk (including what I have).
