cleaning metal parts...
Right, I know some of you think I have a cleaning fettish.. but its no where near as bad as some on here...
I want to clean some metal parts, mainly the radiator.... its covered in crap, and looks like it needs a fair bit of work, only problem is the fins bend very easily, so cant exactly scrubb those.... anyone know of anything I can use to clean this up.. I dont htink autosol will do the trick  going to stock up on a few tubes of that for the downpipes ready for summer... you people with SV's dont know how lucky you are with only one downpipe at the front of your bikes! |
theres not much you can do with radiator fins, i just wd40 them and use a high pressure air hose every now and again to clear the crud out.
|
yep - i agree - not a lot you can do. previously, i have found an electric toothbrush and wd40 can help. my rad now covered with hamicad thing so dont have to bother :D
|
what about the sides of the radiator ? thats looking grubby as hell as well....
this will probably be for a cold winters day, as I have a few things to do on the bike, but the rad will be taken off the bike at somepoint.. get the downpipes off and clean them good and proper then... so when its off the bike, Id like to give it a once over and also straighten out any bent fins |
very soft toothbrush and don't press hard.
|
I'm sure I saw a life going spare around here somewhere, if you like, we could organise a search party to go out looking for yours :D :D :D :D :D

Just leave it as it is, it'll fall to bits eventually and you can get a new one.
|
Spray-on carb/throttle body cleaner and a soft tooth brush. Be gentle. Then lightly spray with WD40
|
buy a new radiator,
use the old one for riding, and when you pull up anywhere, just swap it with the new one. simple :) |
