I sat and watched Atletico Madrid play new boys to the Primera Liga, Recreativo Huelva tonight. Huelva were by far the slicker of the two sides but were beaten by the most outrageous handball goal I have ever seen. Yes even more obvious and intentional than the one by that cocaine snorting midget Diego.

A cross came in which Fernando Torres met with a good header,( he still remains the single most over rated footballer in my mind..if he is worth 30million euros, god help the game!) but which was parried by the Huelva keeper. Another Atletico player standing no more than 1 metre from the goal line,(and very curiously wearing blue woollen gloves for some bizaare reason) literally pushed both his fists out at shoulder height and punched the ball in the goal with his left!

Apart from the officials all missing the infringement the most striking thing to me is the disgusting lack of honesty from a professional athlete. One who knows that he has just totally cheated, simply turns away and jumps for joy celebrating.

But why the surprise? This is Miguel Aguero signed at age 17 a few months ago from Independiente. Many suggest he will be the next Maradona even rating higher than Lionel Messi.


And yes you guessed it by now...he is Argentinian!

Lack of sportsmanship.

Not really 'into' football that much anymore but will always remember erobbie fowler going down in the penalty area in a game, the penalty being given and robbie contested with the referee that it wasn't actually a penalty, he just tripped. Certainly don't see that a lot.
