Storing tyres - keep them warm?
So I want to keep my michelin race for next summer. The guy at essential rubber said I should keep them warm. Total ******** or top tip?
|
Keep 'em in the house. They'll be warm enough.
I wouldn't want race tyres on my bike that had been subjected to freeze thawing action over a harsh winter, but for the most part, they'd be fine in the shed. |
As Baph said, I think he meant not to let them get really cold, not suggesting you keep them in the oven
The best place to store bike tyres is in a cool dark room in the house (although indoors you don't want them next to the fire either). Something like a broom cupboard i.e. at say 10-15deg c. The most essential thing is to keep them out of the UV light. Also don’t store anywhere near anything that sparks (electric boiler) … the ozone from the spark kill the tyres too. |
So black bag in a storeroom then? Would be a very constant 10-15deg.
