Butt lift - spacing the subframe?
Just fitted some nice short dog bones to my bike, now handles rather sharply which I like! But I've not got the look that I'm after with the tail of the bike, I was after it being a little higher with more space between the tyre and undertray. (Dog bones fitted are a lot shorter than stock by the way, and got a ZX6 shock fitted)
I was just wondering how easy it is to space the rear subframe mounts a little to raise the tail and if I'd need to start messing about with other mountings to get them to fit right? As far as I could see there might be an issue with the black side panels, possibly the mounting of the exhaust, and perhaps some re-shaping of the rider's seat, which I thought would be pretty easy to solve. But I didn't want to get involved with this and then realis I'd made a complete botty of it. Cheers Jase |
Sokomm23 (sp) had the tail lifted on his SV before he sold it. PM him and ask him what he did.

hello
i did indeed jack up the subframe on my old sv... the black pannels wont fit once done so take them off. i made the spacers out of 1.6mm ally.2 per side. length to suit how high you want it. had mine silly high but looked good. used two old sockets to use as spacers for the back end of each set of spacers. http://upload4.postimage.org/1448605/R0013309.jpg if you need any more info just get hold of me. |

yeah! quite a bit too.
dont get me wrong...love the tl to bits. but the sv was my baby from birth! oh well. gotta move on. just hope its being enjoyed as much as i enjoyed it. wonder if the person that got it now is on here? |
Cheers for the pointers, I'll probably have a pop at this if some decent weather comes about.
Did you do anythign special with your wiring or hide anything after lifting the rear? I've noticed a few bits on my bike would look a bt naked if I didn't have the side panel jeebies. |
