Do your boots leak?

Mine do,

I've polished them and applied a water proofer but still can't seal them for longer than half-hour.

I'm considering at pair of SealSkinz waterproof socks, I've not tried them but have heard that they work.

I would prefer to stop the water from getting though my boots in the first place as it take ages to dry them out.

Any Ideas?

what boots are they then, and where do they leak from?

Viney 23-10-06 10:32 AM

Mine dont, yet i dont expect them to. I only got them in July and if they didm they would go back.

I found that my sidi black rain leaked 1 year an 1 day after i brought them and mainly in through the toe area.

My Daytona Voyager GTX boots only leak a little in a really heavy downpur. I've had them for 3 years and had a big off so they have a hole in the heel area. Even with that hole they only leak slightly. I had 3 pairs of Sidi Vertigo previous to that and they leaked everytime which was very dissapointing. The Daytone boots don't exactly look great but they work.

Er...the vertigo are NOT waterproof or sold as.

My Sidi Vertigos let in water like nobodies business, but as Viney stated they are not sold as a waterproof boot.

My Frank Thomas Aqua's are still waterproof after nearly 2 years.

My SMX3+ gtx thingies are still very waterproof. I might get a very slightly damp toe near where the metal vents are if I'm out in a torrential rain for about 6 hours.

:D . No. I don't do that.

They are Sidi Vertigo and true they are sold as "wicks away moisture" so not waterproof.

I'm not realy sure where the water gets. I think the zipper, I've tried coating the zip with petroleum jelly.

From your replys I think I'm on to a loser, I don't want to change them as they give me lots of confidence etc.

Anyone tried the socks?

Viper 23-10-06 11:14 AM

I have got Frank Thomas boots cant remember what model etc but cost £119.99 and are dry as a bone.
