Riding in the Wet - Steam off the Engine!
I bought my SV650s-K6 in March, and have been fortunate to not be caught out in REALLY wet weather very often...
However on the few occasions when I have (and more noticeable just recently with more wet weather), if I stop at some traffic lights, what what appears to be steam comes off the engine - sometimes looking like it's on fire! As soon as I wet off again it's fine, but it only happens when it's raining (and the engine most likely covered in water). Am I safe to assume that this is normal for the SV and not to worry about it? |
Normal for me. Steam comes up near the top yoke when stopped on a wet day.

HOT ENGINE + COLD WATER= STEAM
|
The water is most likely on the rad. Just one the smells of biking!

i get lots of steam when the WD40 burns off

Don't you just love it when you get steam when you pull up at the lights and your visor goes foggy!!!

Yep, I get steam off my engine too, and the smell of WD40 and Autosol. You can't beat it!
Also get steam coming of my head when I've been for a run in the cold and go back inside! And out of my trainers! |

It was absolutely piddling down and My old GPz was steaming like the Flying Scotsman. I couldn't clear my visor so opened it and then the inside was steamed up! Has to ride with the visor up in the ****ing rain until I could clear it! |
