2007 Gixxer 1000.
...has an adjustable engine mapping.
A switch on the bars allows you to select 3 power settings 186 bhp 156 bhp (but more torque) (?) 120 bhp Useful or just a gimmick ?, discus |
"Big bikes are for people that can't make little bikes go fast"
In all seriousness I migh be glad of those options if I was taking a GSXR-1000 though really slippy conditions. |

i think that its a really good idea, but one thing i dont get is that if you are in the restricted (if you will) setting/s and wack the throttle right open it just reverts back to the 186 bhp, so whats the point in restricting it, you might as well just use the age old method of controlling your wrist action (i await the innuendos on that one :D ) so in my opinion just a gimmick at its current standing, but not a bad idea, just needs to do the job intended properly!!!!!

Good idea. Why not kick it down to 70bhp and I can race 'em.
All we need now is a SV with a 186bhp power map and that would be sorted. |

The switch on the bar, well I have one on mine, an infinitely variable one called a twist grip. Seriousely it's a good idea in certain conditions I guess, you're still going to have to treat it with a ton of respect with over 100 ponies in the wet. If I had one I think the switch would not be moved from the lowest power setting, I'm far too scared to go fast  |
Might effect fuel consumption too which could be an added benefit of course!

No-body's picking up on the less BHP more Torque :?
