Brake Lines fitting
 

Hi chaps,

got my HEL braided lines and wanted to fit them today. I have across 2 issues and need some advise

1) The rear line is way longer than needed, i.e. about 10-15cm longer
I assume this defies the meaning of better braking since the fluid will have to travel a longer way. So I'll probably need a shorter one.

2) The bolts have different grooves than the original Suzuki ones. They will fit obviously if I force screw them and hence create that groove in the calipers and master cylinder.

Any advise please as I now am without any brakes on the bike LOL

I've just fitted HEL to mine (sK3) front and rear

1) It does look longer, but there are a few curves needed for it to sit properly then there is only a little bit of slack.
I thought it might rub on my rear hugger as well, but it doesn't touch it.

2) I had no trouble threading them in - no need to force the bolt in. About the only issue I had was in lining the bolt up with the threaded hole because of the rigidity of the brake line; but using a socket over the bolt gave me a bit of extra control.

I also bought an extra P clip for the front off side line (if you're going down the 2 line route), and used one of Chewy's small bolts as this is where the 3-into-1 unit sits.
I don't know how others tidied up their lines at the front but I cable tied them to run down the centre and then split off to their respective calipers.

Also bleed as usual, but after bleeding the calipers, bleed the banjo on each caliper, then the banjo on the master cylinder, end then bleed everything again.

Supreme brakes now!!! :twisted: Really do inspire confidence ( god knows what it would be like with a GSXR750 k4 setup)

i wouldn't force them, on the curvey (that's all i've done this on) the caliper banjos bolts are a different pitch thread than the master cylinder. Cant remember which way round they go though, they should go in nice and easily

When I say force them i mean screw them in and since it's gonna be a different thread it will create that thread on the caliper or master cylinder

My K6 is a naked and the original rear line is just a straight line that goes to the caliper from the pump.......the HEL line is way longer

Well - hope its of some use, and I didn't find that my k3 had an issue with pitch of thread...

my rear line is way longer than yours and if I just lay it on the bike it goes further than the rear caliper.

Yeah the thread bit is what is worrying me at the moment

Still not entiely sure what ypou mean in regards to the bolts, basically compare the bolt that you've just taken out to the one you're just about to piut in, they should be the same althogh thre newer bolt may have a slightly sharper thread.

yeap did that - compared the bolts,

the new ones are slightly shorter and with a different thread

Mine did, but it's amazing how it shortens by the time you put it on!
If you look at the angle it comes off the master cyliner at and the caliper then you loose a fair amount line just in the bends.
