Naming a kitten

All things going to plan I should have a new addition to the household next week.....

Thinking up names whilst watching a Metallica DVD. Opinions & alternate names welcome:

Boy Cat:

Rommel (after a german)
Zack (after a guitarist)
Starbuck (Battlestar Galatica)
Macgyver (dodgy hair-doed 1980's tv programme)
Luke (guess...)
Han (ditto...)
Chewie (again...)
Hetfield (after a guitarist)
The Lord (*slightly* nerdy Hitch hiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference)

Girl Cat:

Courtney (After the Irish business man John Courtney)
Suzi
Quatro
Titmuss (hmmm....Abi be thy name)
Leia (guess)
Manon (After a french movie)

Any thoughts/additions?

They sort of name themselves, something always comes up. Mine's called Mippy.

It's all irrelevant, it appears that due to an unspecified farming accident, there are no kittens.

Was really looking forward to a new addition too.

Anyone got any kittens that need a home then I may be able to help!

As for where to get a kitten - go to Battersea, it will cost a bit, but they pre-neuter and datachip the cats, also they do great work (its where we had our last cat from)

As for naming, well as someone once wrote....

different names.

First of all, there's the name
that the family use daily,
Such as Victor, or Jonathan,
George or Bill Bailey--
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names
if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen,
some for the dames;
Such as Plato, Admetus,
Electra, Demeter--
But all of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you,
a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that is peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he
keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers,
or cherish his pride?

Of names of this kind,
I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quazo or Coripat,
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellyrum--
Names that never belong
to more than one cat.

But above and beyond
there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you will never guess;
The name
that no human research can discover--
But The Cat Himself Knows,
and will never confess.

When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought,
of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

Awww! No more kittens?? Bless. RIP little ones!

Was gonna say that you can't name a kitten until you see it, then once you see it you'll just know!

Hope you find one, they are such fun to watch! Word of warning tho.. they use your legs a ladders so make sure you ALWAYS wear thick trousers or jeans! :D

My cat hasn't got a name. He doesn't seem too bothered anyway. For what it's worth, you should have named yours Rommel  Get one, you'll not regret it.

Ours is named Theakston - after the beer. Beer has lots of good names, Tetley is another good name for a cat, not sure about Kronenburg tho'.

I have 3 kittens, 2 that I kept after rescuing them after their mother abandoned them (you might remember the thread) and another I was given.

She is called Suzi... I wonder why?!?!
The other 2 boys are Tigger... Yes original I know!
And Fudge because he's a light gingery fudgy colour although Paul calls him Gixxer a lot! :D

Get one, they'll keep you entertained for hours! :D
