How to pick a fallen SV up

Ok so I dropped it again, was using a drive-way to do a turn in - nose in, roll, back sort of thing.

Went a bit wrong due to an aggressive drain, had to stop dead, lost it to the right, tried to hold, had to give up and lower - so no damage to me or bike.

Had started to try and pick it up (and struggling) when a passer-by came to my aid and we had her upright again in a couple of seconds.

So whats the best technique of getting a pointy SV on to rubber again if its on its side?

You can all stop laughing now :)

Don't drop it in the first place!

I did this with a Honda VFR800 Hire Bike about a week after writing off my own VFR! I did not let it go down though as I could not bear the thought of more expense. Anyway, I found that you need to scooch down and lift from the side of the bike. I grab under the tank, a handle bar and also use my knees, ears, toes and anything else that sticks out. I just go for brute force kind deal, seems to work!

Dude!!!!

You're way bigger than me & you struggle with your bike? Bless.

Hand on Handle bar
Hand on Petrol tank

lift up until vertical.

If it's fallen on the RHS, you're lucky - put the side stand down so that if you go over too far, the stand will stop it falling to the other side (you could be there all day ;o)

Oh, yeah what SV_Dan sez.....Probably explains why my back is killing me today!

Bend the kness.

Git !!! :P

Ok I see where I was going wrong - I went for handlebar and the plastic about level with the pillion seat - probably over-stretching myself.

Concentrate force in one place makes sense :0

Thanks folks :)

Back to it, arms behind you, closest hand on the lowest handlebar. lift with your knees. Something like that, so you don't strain your back too much.

But I just grab the lowest handlebar and tank and lift it that way too, easy peasy. Helps if you fall off it dramatically and then immediately try and lift it. The adrenaline helps. I've yet to find a bike that I have struggled to pick up despite being a skinny malinky thats a sstrong as a drink of water.  :x

I always thought it was described as a girl's bike because it was so light and even a girl could pick it up?

And having thought about the technique I was using I can see why I was struggling - I am sure that a few minutes later and I would have worked it out on my own :)

mutter, mutter, sulk

Any time I dropped or fell off mine I was so f*****g mad I think it lifted itself up
I honestly don't know how but I've lifted one on several occasions. Bars and tank or frame just under it
