GSXR front end on SV1000s

Hi

Could anyone tell me exactly what year and model GSXR forks will fit my K4 I'm going to do a project over winter to make her look wicked i hope ha ha.

Would a single sider also be a lot of hard work to fit??

Does anyone know if fitting a power commander alone is worth it??
I'm thinkinh of the renagade air filter kit but don't want the hassle of warning lights coming on and stuff.

Any of your thoughts and idears or hints for my project I would be very greatful.

Kind regards Paul

Paul

I have not heard of a single sider being put on a SV1000 - it has been done on an SV650, and looked okay - not sure if it is worth the aggro though

I haven't bothered with a PC, I just went for a custom remap of the stock ECU which made a difference, particularly at lower revs.

Not sure if you are aware or not, but Jorge at Renegade has relocated to Portugal - AFAIK he is still manufacturing the kits though. I have just gone for a K&N with tank raisers at the moment (I had Rene cans & airkit on my 650)

Might be worth posting on sv1000 site as this site is mainly used by SV650 owners (and a lot of ex-650 owners  ) - there are only a few SV1000 owners on here. Pretty sure a few guys from the SV1000 site have done gixxer conversions so they should be able to help

Hi,

Thanks no I didn't know renagade had moved thats kinda messed up my plan a bit there then LOL.

I've heard different info some say 02 GSXR others say an 04 will be fine JHS used an 04 front end but they had a black frame model so I guess its newer but wanted to make sure I got the right parts.

I'm really trying to go for the style look at the moment .

Thanks for your help tho

As far as I'm aware any of the 'K' series GSXR forks will fit.

You might want to stay away from K1's though as they had a Nitriding problem - ie it peels off - you can get them re-done but it ain't cheap !!

A single sider would be a LOT of work to make fit because of the off-set rear shock that Suzuki chose to place on the bike.

Power Commander - up to you - but unless you have a full race exhaust system it's probably not worth the money.

Don't know anything about air filters - all I did was remove the 'snorkel' - sounds lovely (especially 4th gear roll-ons - GREAT induction roar  )

P.S. The best mod for any faired SV is to remove the bl**dy plastics & make it naked !! :P

Have fun with your project !! :D

I'm not sure of the fork lengths... Does 21Quest not have an USD-d thou?

From memory, any front end from Y-onwards from a 750, K1 onwards from a 600 (though some of those are RWU) and any thou front should fit, complete. But some of those have the offset ignition, and some don't, so if you want to retain your parking lock (helpful for insurance) then it could be some will work out easily and some won't.

The thou wheel's the same as most of the GSXRs in that time period, and the calipers are the same as the Y-K3 750 (pre-radial) and can be fitted to the K1-K2 thou as well. Discs are a different size, but if you go with a radial front you could space the calipers out to fit.

Showa > Kayaba, stock, so 750 or 600, not thou. The most recent GSXR 600/750 forks are supposed to be fantastic, just picked up a set myself ;) But the fitment issues look to be slightly different, I've not got into that yet.

Aren't Sv thou forks the same as GSX1400?

Anyway I had this pic floating around, but it looks like R1 forks...

I think SV1000 forks were one offs, they have a funny (44 or 46mm, not sure which) diameter. Most other stuff from suzuki GSXR's RWU foruks i beleave is 41 & 45mm.

Yes thoes look like Yamaha forks.

Might be wrong but I thought they were RWU GSXR 750 forks, can't remember which ones though

Thanks for you advice, I think I'm going to have alook about and see what I can pick up shame is I just don't have the space to try and fit a set of forks so I guess its gonna be a shop job and I'm sure thats gonna dent the wallet!!

I'm toyed with having the back seat unit off and changing it for a GSXR thou unit or doing something with the exhaust.

If any of you read MCN this week its got an article about the 650 sport and it comes out well.

Cheers Paul

If they are then it would have to be before SRAD 97' 750 as they had USD. I am sure its an odd size they fitted to SV1000.
