Hindle, Leo Vince, Akrapovic or other full systems

Hello all

Well ive got a 05 SV650 and been hunting for a 2nd hand system set-up but no luck at all

So decided I might as well go for it new as I want a full system.

I know a few have mentioned that its not worth it for standard but mine had small drop in garden before I bought it and can has some marks no biggy but the front pipe to collector has some damage nothing mayor but its not looking healthy lately.

As im in London and need the bike to be nimble the weight save of full system is very tempting. Plus has to have road legal markings

I think ill be going for the Leo as seems to be very good value for money and read few good things but does anyone have these full systems on their bikes and how you find them? Also any side pics so I can see how the can sits would be great.

Anyone running this Hindle? Seems cheap set-up but whats the quality like?

And if anyone thinking of selling setup in the next coming month let me know got cash sitting here.

I think there's a couple of people on here with hindle systems. Supposed to be very good.

Obviously you can't go wrong with the big names but will pay top money for them. M4 have a good rep and don't need re-packing.

I've got an Arata full Ti system that only weighs about 3 kilos but I didn't notice the weight loss so I doubt the Leo will make your bike any more nimble.

Will make it sound nice though.

I have Micron high level header pipes with Quill Evo 2 road legal/BS stamped can (removable baffle), supplied by JB Racing. They swaged out the end of the high level link pipe to suit the silencer.

The rear footrests can be fitted with the spacers supplied with the Micron header pipes.

i have a full akrapovic system, pics are in the photos section if you search for my posts. i find it exactly the same as the original except sounds/looks nicer. doesn't feel any faster imo.

Most of the weight saving's from the can anyway... They don't come much lighter than my titanium WRP (even the steel one's pretty light) but it's still not vastly less than standard headers. Standard, back to where you cut for a race can, is 2155g... The WRP is about 1300g I think. Obviously there's a wee bit more metal between can and headers though.

The whole race system weighs less than the OEM can, mind :)

I have a hindle system on my K4. The pipes seem good quality and very light. The can once suffered from some salt corrosion which got under the laquer. It's kind of annoying! However the pipes seem to stay very clean.

Pics here when it was pretty new.

One prob though, it deffo aint legal. The noise is fairly dependant on the state of the packing too. Mine was quieter when new, and when Kate had her round can (the packing was fecked!) it was obscene. In fact it was hardly any point having the can at all. Car alarms were going off left right and centre.

If you're lucky then full systems come by for sale 2nd hand now and then. You'll save loads.

What connection size is the link pipe on your micron system? 52mm?

I bought one off ebay recently and fear that it's going to be a bigger connection thatn most standard cans so I won't be able to put on different cans

No, the Micron link pipe is 50.8mm (2 inch tube) and JB racing swaged it out to 52mm for me. I think this is why Micron can't supply a road legal silencer for these pipes, i.e. 50.8mm isn't a standard size for a road legal silencer.

50.8?? Excellent, I thought it was closer to 54mm. So a can with a 52mm inlet should stay on when used with an exhaust clamp (tightened enough to take up the gap ;) )

Cheers.

Hey bud, I have a Ti full Hindle on mine. I like it a tonne... makes a great deep grunt.
Here is a little vid of mine, unfortunately the quality of the vid sux so you can't get the full effect of the exhaust sound. Of course it sounds much better in person.
