Join the 2 wires in the switch.

Left hand side switch control.

Easy to do, yes.

I wouldn't recommend doing it. You may ALWAYS remember to leave it in neutral, but two things can happen. 1) You can accidentally hit a false neutral (I'll admit I've not had that on my SV 650, but I have had it on other bikes) 2) Someone can mess with you and kick it into gear while it sits unattended. Then you'll hit the start and knock your bike down.

That said, your bike, it's all good. :)

Bingo. Unless you park in a false neutral, I suppose, since the cutout sensor's the same as the neutral light sensor I think. But how likely is that?

Bypassing the switch means there's one less 2p electrical component to fail and leave you stranded in the middle of France... And removing the switch gives you an ever so slightly lighter clutch action.

If I go to france, I'll be carrying enough tools & wire to solve electrical faults on the bike (mostly).

Personally, I'd rather be forced to remember the clutch switch. If it develops a fault, I can strip it on the spot & temporarily bodge it.
