Duke 1098
 

Just been over to the Ducati website, which politely introduced me to the Ducati 1098.

Which has just become my favorite looking motorcycle of all time, disposing the 916/996/998.

It's nice isn't it! Very much a move back towards the 916/996/748 styling - In my mind this is what the current crop of 749/999s should have looked like!

the 999 was beautiful too! just a pity most people couldn't form their own opinion on it. Ducati do win the award for the ****test videos ever hehe. i heard the 1098 was based on the SV :wink:

Nice bike - I wonder if it will have any teething issues before it is perfect. Something to park in the garage when i am 60 I suspect.

From the front, I think it looks like a fat, squinty, rubbish 916. Nice from the side, but too chunky, the tank's all wrong and robs it of its nose-down stance- it looks like it's off a different bike. Can't look at it without thinking that the designer liked the 675 and the F4i just a bit too much. The rear view's stunning though, best proddy swingarm ever and the tail section's superb.

I know it's real, but it still looks to me like it was designed by a Raptors and Rockets submitter who can work photoshop, but has no actual artistic talent ;) Just bits and pieces of other bikes slapped together. Say what you like about the 999, but at least it was it's own bike, this is a collage. Completely unimpressed.

I'd still move the lawnmower to make space for it in the garage, though. I might even throw out one of the old mountain bikes, if it was absolutely neccesary.

Just as the whole 749/999 finally grows on me they raise the bloody bar again. Time to put one of my kidneys on ebay I think, very nice 8)
