Bike damaged in car park

When I got to my bike on Tuesday evening I found it had been knocked over and picked up again. I was most unimpressed. It was raining and dark and I just wanted to go home! :(

Damage as follows:
Messed up Motoslider bung
Bent handlebars
Scuffed up bar end
Damaged mudguard and dent in exhaust

I'm sure it would have been worse if not for the crash bung which was only fitted two weeks ago!

I went home quite cross that someone would do that and not leave their details, no CCTV on that carpark. Anyway, the chap who did it (he dropped his bike on mine knocking it over sideways) came to see me the following day. He was soooo apologetic and looked on the verge of tears. He's an older chap who rides a GS500E. Anyway, costing it up as an insurance job the repairs came to ~£900 plus labour (Exhaust is £767!). So I also got it all costed up for repairing with an aftermarket exhaust. That came in much cheaper (~£500) and he wrote me out a cheque on the spot! Now I feel really bad as he is hugely out of pocket for a small mistake. If there is any change left over after the repairs I want to give it to him, although he said to keep it as recompense for the inconvenience.

So, although the bike is a bit bent I now get a 'free' exhaust 'upgrade'.

Have decided on a Remus Revolution, just need to decide whether to go for carbon or not!

:)

you can get standard unwanted exhaust systems from racers for ~£35.

It was nice of the chap to actually own up, decent chap!

Shame its not like this at my work, a couple this week have been knocked about because of the bad weather and people trying to squeeze their bikes too close together, under the shelter! A couple have resorted to taking photographs of the bikes both sides and checking at dinner times for any changes....

Doh! I didn't think of that!

Nostrils, yeah I was very impressed that he owned up. He was really gutted he caused so much damage.

In the end I went for a stainless, as Remus don't do one I went for a Scorpion. Cheaper and have had good reviews. I wanted to retain the original look. Which I could have done a lot cheaper if I'd thought of Thor's idea!

Anyway, here's to honest people. :drink:
