PC problem - dead I guess ?
Hi
just bought a D-Link Range Extender (DWL-G710) to boost my wireless signal Instructions say plug it in, connect ethernet cable and go to http://192.168.0.30 and then logon and change settings etc. Except that it doesn't respond  Tried pinging it as well, but still no response Also tried resetting it (no joy) and checking the manufacturers help page to see if the IP address had changed (nope still the same). Also tried a different cable as well So I guess it's dead and needs sending back, unless anyone else has any ideas . . . cheers |
Sounds dead to me.

You might want to try setting your pc to a static IP address 192.168.0.XX (where X is anything, aside from 30 ;) )& try that -like byeager says here:

Yep try setting it on the same subnet.
If you have a dhcp server somewhere, then it may of assigned the unit an address. They are clever like that. Except they wont tell you what address they gave it! Dan |
connect your PC to the device & to nothing else
set your PC to dhcp, I'll bet that the device has a dhcp server in it & will assign you a 192.168.x.y/z address, then browse to http://192.168.0.30 |

maybe your firewall is blocking access to 192.168.0.30

If you read this quick install guide here it tells you to set up a static IP address/subnet, see section "before you begin":
