Ive just been offered pt 2....

...a 600 Bandit in red on a Y plate for £1k

Faired, with 20something on the clock. Sadly no MOT and SORN for last 12 months.

Also thrown in - a jumble of helmets/locks/stands & leathers all in the price

A good deal or someone else problem?

Thought i could use it as a 2nd bike for getting to work on...rather than use the tarts handbag

If it ran and was in fair nick I'd say buy it. Get it MOT for 12 months and You'll make a couple of hundred come the spring

i agree but make sure that you give it a good look over before/ if you decide to buy it

£1000  bullet proof bike for 1k.

I thought it was a steal when i first heard about - just the mileage (Worn shocks?) and then the fact that it hadnt run for a year has made me think twice about it. Its the newer faired model so should have a fair amount of protection from the screen and ideal upright position for the winter

£1000 8) If I was offered that (and had £1000 this side of xmas  ) I'd snap their bloody hand off. 20k miles isn't really an issue for the Bandits, in fact to be fair I'd say its pretty low for a Bandit of that age. All I can say is though - shame its not the 1200 8)

Anyway, don't listen to me I'm just biased(check the sig  )

The standard shock is crap to start with so it won't be much worse. The engine is oil cooled so swop the oil, drain the carbs and charge the battery. Should fire up. They're really that simple. A bandit makes a SV look complicated. "Water! In the engine? How mad is that?"

Beenz 21-11-06 09:39 PM

If an engines toast after 20K I'd better mothball my bike right away

If its had plenty of oil n filter changes and serviced the correct bits at the correct rimes it should be fine. At that price I'd consider it as a winter/reserve hack.

Sounds like a good deal! Bandits are bullet proof. Just have a good check over, get some fresh petrol in it and see if it starts before parting with cash.

And don't take the helmets - you don't know the history of a second hand helmet, and its likely to be dodgy-er than a brand new one!

sounds like a good deal to me...i WOULD get the helmets etc & stick em on ebay/local free adds what ever you make on the gear you have saved on the bike
