hot exhausts
Used to own a 1998 SV and the exhaust got REALLY hot even after a short ride. Had to wait about an hour before I could pop the bike cover on.
I now own a 1998 Honda VFR. Even after a Long ride the exhaust is just warm. I know there must be a scientific explanation. So please explain away. |
race cans stay cool but road legal cans do get v hot.

this is probably not a complete reason, but I should think it at least contributes...
the metal on the SV's can is pretty thick so it holds the heat very well. lighter weight cans - ones fabricated out of a piece at each end with thin(ner) tube rolled around them - tend to hold the heat a lot less, hence run less hot & cool a lot quicker |
.
ahh. makes sense as the SV had a standard can where as the VFR has a race can.
next question - will the VFR pass its M.O.T with a Race Can on? |
Not forgetting any baffle will act as some pretty good insulation.
