Damn good service

OK, so I tried to find an appropriate section, and we have a good/bad cafe section, but not a good/bad bike shop section...

Basically, went shopping for some new boots yesterday, and the only shop open (due to it being Sunday) was one I'd never been to before. I don't really want to advertise on the org without mod permission, and there's not many folks that live locally, so if anyone wants to know what shop it was, drop me a PM :)

After messing with boots/gloves for going on 2 hours, I realised something. There was only ONE time when ANY of the sales team came over to see if everything was OK. I replied positively, and she just said "OK, give us a shout if you need a hand with anything" and left it at that. Blimey, two hours on a sales floor & NOT being hounded by staff. Definately a positive for any retail store.

So then we get to the bad part, paying. Friendly staff (Zoe IIRC) talking about kids etc (we had the 2yr old with us - who they didn't care about running around, playing with the £500 BMW lids etc). Then I enquired about the Gore-tex gurantee, and if they'd handle the lifetime warranty by Gore-Tex, or if I'd need to get in touch with Gore-tex. Can anyone guess the response??

"Oh, don't worry too much about that. If your feet or hands get wet AT ALL in the next year, bring the goods back to us. Don't worry about loosing your receipt, it's all on the system. We'll just replace the gear with whatever we've got in stock at the time. If it's outside of a year, then bring them back anyway, and we'll send them off to the manufacturer, and they can replace the gore-tex liner or give you new gear." OK, very impressive customer service. Lets hope I don't have to put their words to the test, but if I do, I'm confident that they'll stand by it.

EDIT: On another positive note, I showed the Mrs a video of the R1 turbo on google videos in the past to get granted the "Yeah right, dream on" response. I pointed out a bike in the shop asking her what she thinks of it, her response? "Oh that's nice, how much do you think they'd take the SV as part-ex?" Yup, you guessed it, it was the R1 :D

I don't think that the shop was in Londinium, unless you come up from Islington to get your kit in N. Wales? :D

Are we playing guess the shop? Was it Woods in Abergele?

If there was a prize, mike, you'd be deserving of one.

Are the mods THAT strict? I could understand if you worked for them or were slating them but good comments, there can't be a problem with them. :?

Nah, I just prefer to err on the side of caution & try not to make work for the mods where I can. Purely my own personal choice about not mentionning the shop in the open forum. I admin on some sites, and I'm more than aware of the amount of crap that can come your way for the actions of others, and generally, I'm far more strict than any mod I've seen on here.

I'm the kind of person that you upset me, you loose your account, no warnings, no nothing. Complaining doesn't change my mind. I started being an admin back in the BOFH days. Lucky I don't have the authority here.

I'm unaware that we slap people for posting up about places that they got good service from...

It's the naming and shaming that could get us into legal hot water that we don't want. If you want to advertise something for your own personal - or that of a mate's - benefit, it's just generally considered polite to clear it with mods/admin first.

:)

Re my post above :) I don't consider it appropriate for sites I admin, so I try not to replicate on other sites. I know I was being overly critical of myself, but that's just my way :)
