ART Exhaust (fitting)
 

Just purchased a S/S Art end can for next to nothing. Have everything I need i.e. link pipe etc, except fitting instructions :cry:

I've got a 2000 Y model naked curvy and would appreciate any help I can get :lol:

For example, do I cut the standard exhaust at 50mm from the weld or 2 and 3 quater inches from the weld????????

hold it up where it should go, and make your desicion then. Remember you can always cut more off but not less! i probably cut the pipe 2-3 times. on the main webpage of this site i think theres a guide

yeah. Just take your time. Otherwise you'll scratch everything! I used a £16 angle grinder for most of it (from b&q) And a dremel with the reinforced cutting discs for the rest (it uses a few!!). Its quite a fun project to do. The instructions with mine said 45mm up from the weld, but it depends where you want your pipe to sit.

You could do what I did and keep an eye out for a complete standard pipe.
I found one that had been down the road so the can was scratched. I paid £10 for it and cut the can off then just swapped my system for the remaining pipework.
If you really do not want to get a cutting tool anywhere near your bike you could always take the system off to cut it. It's really not that difficult to remove and you have the added bonus of being able to move the pipework around to get a good clean cut.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm bustin' to take an angle grinder to the can and rip it of I just want to make sure in my excitement that I don't bo**ocks it all up :lol:

I'm going to chop the bike this weekend and see what the bike sounds like with no exhaust first then hopefully hook it all up in one easy assembly.

Okay finally done it.................. 8)

Cut the pipe at 50mm and managed to fit the pipe without any major hitches (did have to stop half way through and go purchase some exhaust sealant) :oops:

Apart from that I am well happy :lol:

The pipe is MEGA LOUD and it ROCKS :twisted:

For next time :wink: don't bother with exhaust sealent - just use cheap as chips B&Q clear sealant - much cheaper and works a treat :thumbsup:
