Even the mobile speed traps could do with taking notes...

The amount of tailbacks that would occur on the A13 just because they'd stuck a van under one of the overpasses was ridiculous. My journey on the bike would become infinitely more dangerous when traffic backed up in unexpected places. Cagers do more sudden and stupid things.

feel something wrong here, Motorway 50 MPH ????? thought the speed limit on motorways were still 70 MPH

Its very congested at that part of the motorway, with lots of junctions, tight bends for a motorway, so the slower speed is probably justified, the camera never was. It's about time someone saw sense. However I suspect that because all knew the camera was there thus congestion slowed everyone below the threshold the camera was not making any money. Move it to someplace else and get more revenue.

"Westbound congestion of a Friday evening regularly tails back in excess of five miles because people brake through instinct on observing the camera even when they are travelling within the speed limit."

I *hate* that. You're driving at the speed limit and the idiot in front suddenly slams their brakes on because they're spotted a camera - even though they're not speeding.

I share your view on this.

Unfortunately, this exactly the sort excuse the scamera police will be using to make the cameras less visable. Not only more catches but 'less' accidents caused by people slowing without the need. But more fines, more money for even more cameras.

I had that on the way home from Bristol last night, locked up the back (ok i was to close). The silly noggin was doing 42 in 50 and hit the brakes so f***ing hard. NO POINT.
Oh and beenz, Yes i used the back brake

It will be replaced by electronic signs displaying the speed of each vehicle, but not recording their details.
I love those - used to have them in Barbados (try to get the high score!)

No point going for the high score if they don't record, where's the glory in that?
