icy weather delays flights but will Santa wait for me?

 I hear there may be some flight delays due to icy conditions at heathrow...any news on Gatwick anyone? (ps: not due to fly until Saturday)....oh and I checked the website thingy - doesn't appear to be anything there about ice....yet.

eek.

i think its because of fog not ice , gatwick was built on a bog and it attracts low fog...what time you flying...?

Stingo 20-12-06 04:22 PM

About 11am - which is nice...

zobo 20-12-06 04:28 PM

Well if the weather stays the same you may be delayed spesh if your flying with BA..check the weather forecast for Sat...but by 10:00 ish the fog has usually lifted but you may have a knock on delay from the early morning flights...

Stingo you're being very selfish on that pirate ship. If you're marooned at Gatwick you can't expect Santa to delay departure for the rest of us, I want my prezzies on time and fog at Gatwick is not an acceptable excuse

:( :( :(

I'm sure everything will be fine with Monarch airlines - the king of the skies!!

Departing you should be OK, some company policies wont allow them in when the vis gets low like it has been these last few days. Planes have to be de-iced before take off in freezing conditions, I can vouch there is plenty in stock :)

Oooh lovely. Cheers.. :drink: .

Naturally, I'll be quite sober on the flight. :D Fog is indeed the enemy - death to the fog!!

Keep your eye on this link
http://weatherpixie.com/pda.php?place=EGKK
it will tell you the current weather at Gatwick, updated at 20 past and 20 to the hour.
Its a decoded plain text version of the output from the airfield met observation system. Look out for the final line reading 'Freezing Fog', that's whats going to start slowing things down a bit.

Incidentally, substitute any ICAO identity in the URL for the weather at that airport. (Well I think this website works for UK only. i.e. use EGLL for Heathrow, EGHI for Southampton)

What ya going to see Santa for?...New joke book :?: . That Rudolf one was poor...even by my standards :D

Hope the weather holds out for you.
