Petition Tony...

The goverment is trying to take our money again... Just received this and signed up, it seems legit

UK ROAD TAX

Dear all,

Have done this, it's very easy. We have nothing to lose by trying - if you
don't want Tony & Gordon to have all our money because we drive a car or
bike, then please at least sign up

THIS IS REAL AND IT IS A PROPER GOVERNMENT SITE!!!

>>The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to
>>purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it.
>>The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC,
>>the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery
>>driver.

>>A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in
>>one month.
(Wished they asked me, my bill just for commuting to and from work would be in excess of £1000 per month!)
>>On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will
>>know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been
>>going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit* you can expect
>>and additional fine with your monthly bill.

>>If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the
>>car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website
>>
>>
>>http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/
>>
>>
>>Please pass this on to anyone who owns a car/motorcycle. It affects them.
>>

* Its not limited to speeding. They also know where parking restrictions etc
>>are located. And you!

I could be scathing about this, but I've already done it twice so I can't be bothered to do it again. Do try and keep up old chap! :)

It looks like this petition has been set up by the Prime Ministers office to ask our opinion.

Sitting on your hands moaning is not going to get anything that you dislike changed. Only you can make a difference.

I am so ****ing sick of peoples complete APATHY - do you know why the government takes no notice - because so few people respond to anything.

Everyone hates living in a ****ing nanny state - unfortunately everyone has become so ****ing used to living in a nanny state that they expect everyone to do everything for them.

NOTHING IS GOINNG TO CHANGE UNLESS YOU GET OFF YOUR ****ING **** AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF ****ING WHINGEING.

How do you think the government came to spend millions on passing a law banning fox hunting? Because the folks who care about it made themselves noticed and wouldn't go away until something was done. Same thing with medical testing on animals. I would say that this group was a minority of extremists who have gotten a lot done by saying something.

DO SOMETHING FOR ****'S SAKE INSTEAD OF MOANING

See if u go back to Bikes - Talk & Issues, n look at "sign this petition" you might see why people are complaining about u posting this...

Its nothing to do with the actual site you have posted, its to do with the fact that its been posted already in an active post!

http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=49901

Try reading similar currently active posts before moaning yourself

Not true. Absolutely anyone can raise a petition on the site- I just submitted one to Abolish Scooby Drew as he endangers small mammals that live in verges :) There's an approval process, which presumably Abolish Scooby Drew will pass with flying colours...

You ask why the government doesn't listen? 278,000 have just signed up to a petition against something that's not actually government policy. IMO it devalues the whole process. If they actually do announce a track-and-tax system in a month, and quarter of a million people sign up, of course they'll pay no attention since they know a quarter of a million people signed up to protest against something that didn't exist. Now they know how kneejerk the response is.

Down with this sort of thing!

But why! Get your priorities right :)

Incidentally, HM Government have spoken, and you're not to be abolished. Very disappointed, it's a suppression of my right to free speech!
