apocalypto

Don't know if I spelt that right but anyway...

Watched it last night and found it really stressful to watch. Then I ended up dreaming that me and my kids were on a ferry and it sank, must be something about the wife in the whole! Anyone else seen it, and what do you think?

I have been hearing a lot of reports that its not bad actually.
I havn't seen it, and I am a massive film snob, but... loads of people who were pretty well set on not liking it came out thinking it was good. :D

I don't do films. I get bored quickly, or I get too involved and I have learned over the years that things haunt me. I would recommend seeing it, but I personally found it difficult viewing. If I had been there on my own I wouldn't have seen it through to the end, but maybe I am a big girls' blouse!

Cause it was bloody? I left half way through Kill Bill, cause I though it was rubbish and horrible.
I am not into seeing people getting butchered.
If that's what Apocalypto is about, then thats good enough for me to miss it.

its bloody, it involves abuse of kids and women, and decapitation. It is the complete destruction of a family unit (or village if you want) in detail. I guess it gives the film impact, but I don't deal well with seeing it. The build up to the violence makes you feel emotional towards the characters .... I guess thats what good films do, but hard viewing. IMO

Fair enough. No thanks.

Count me out so.

It's a Mel Gibson flick, there's some laughs, some torture, some gratuitous violence. It's sort of like crossing Braveheart with Cannibal Holocaust.
I thought it was pretty good and not a single Hollywood Leg end in sight. For that reason it's tremendously well acted :)
The camera work is damn good and it's a ripping yarn. Go see it if you're not too squeamish!!

I saw this movie last night here with spanish subtitles due to the characters speaking some form of ancient dialect. When I discovered that the film was 139 minutes long I was a little nervous as I felt sure aching butt syndrome would kick in way before the end.

In truth after the first 15 minutes which was a little slow as the characters were presented to us, the rest flowed very quickly indeed.

Yes there is some gory stuff going on but anyone doing a little bit of research or having a feel for Mel Gibson's movies would not have been overly stressed.

In all I enjoyed the film and the violence displayed was almost slapstick compared with say the flogging sequence in the The Passion of Christ which I found extremely disturbing largely due I guess, to the fact that it was so graphic and prolonged.
