Viper can - Road legal or not?
:?
Silly question time, I am just about to buy (long waited for) sv650, Its got a Viper Exhaust on and I just wanted to check how you find out if its road legal. Thanks...... JvJ |
Does it have a British Standards number stamped on it? That would show it to be a road legal can.
If it has 'not for Road Use' or 'Race Use Only' stamped on it, then is not legal. |
alot of vipers arnt im afriad, viper do sell a baffle insert to make them road legal though, about 15 quid ish

Thanks for the info - I got it - rode it home....It is quite load but it was too dark to have a good look for any stamps. Will inspect tomorrow.
Thanks again :) |
I'm pretty sure the standards stamps are irrelevant now with MOTs and police. So long as it isnt marked "not for road use" or "race use only" it should be fine.

Thanks again fro the info guys.......It has "for competition use only" on it so unfortunately I will be taking it off..
I took it off but unfortunately the original was cut off clean. Anyone aware of an insert I can use - Or do I have to get it welded back on? Thanks again |

just polish the stamp off, some garages will let you get away with it for the mot |
you can get a badge off ebay to stick over the "not for road use" my mates got 2 on his TL1000r and that passes the mot every year.
