What are people's opinions of Honda Firestorm's?
I've seen a couple of rather nice ones and was wondering what people's opinions of them are...
Thanks in advance, Cloggs  |
Stonking bikes, only faster than the SV in a straight line. Suspension being budget, but brakes seem better.
Very bland styling, that single headlight looks like an early 90's CBR. Side mounted rads, crash bungs are a must. They're all thristy, but older ones had smaller tank. AFAICR the model was updated from 2002... |
sound nice go well enough, bit juicy to run, bit of a small tank, not really that poky for a 1000cc, but built as most Honda's are. needs to be prettied up a bit though.
Cheers Mark. |
Couple of mates have got them. Biggest drawback they find is the small size of the petrol tank. A third mate has now 'upgraded', in his opinion, to a TL.
Sound bloody great with decent cans on tho, and certainly go well enough :D |
Good suspension upgrade is to fit the RWU forks from the early blade. With a decent rear shock it'll be transformed ;)

I had a new one when they first came out.Not very quick for a thou.Paint on early black ones very thin, rubbed through mine before first service with my knees!!!!!Quite often can stall at lights when ticking over.Front forks were way too soft and chattered under fairly hard braking(I only weighed 10 and a half stone back then aswell).False neutrals on high range downshifts(scary when expecting massive engine braking.Seat looked comfy but wasn't after not many miles.Shocking economy/range especially hammering it.HOWEVER....I used to ride like a loony and was trying to stay with mates on R1's,GSXR750's etc, maybe I was expecting too much from it?I got fed up with getting left behind after 8 weeks and got a new TLR1000!Looking back and seeing how cheap they are now and how I ride now maybe they make more sense now....

Why are they so thirsty?!000 cc twin in a low state of tune should equal good fuel economy IMHO.
