bikes nicked in the mmu car parks
 

It seems that two bikes have been nicked, over the winter period from Manchester metropolitan university car parks. Both bikes, one a BMW the other a Kawasaki were both locked up to ground anchors. One from the car park next to the sally pub. All the car parks have cameras, but the security manger of the site said they were unable to get any still pictures off the images. He is interested in any ideas to make the bike areas, more secure!!!! I said to put up a cage in the car park :). Well you don't ask you don`t get; worth a try. He was asking if more anchors might help? get`s a bit much if you are chaining up both wheels all the time tho.

Holy crap you gotta be kidding me!

I don't even bother with any security when I park there cos I didn't think anyone would have the nerve. Wondered why there was hadly anyone parked there.

Have these been bikes left overnight or something?

I kid you not. The bmw was stolen in full view of a security camera. Chain cutters used, then pushed away. :shock: And no one saw it. The security manger said that they had had quite a few over the years. I use two locks. one being a chain that fits under the seat plus a lock. The chain is about two meters long, and raps up nicely under the seat.
