Tyre dealers in Chelmsford..?
Anyone here recommend anywhere to buy/fit tyres for the SV? I've looked at National Tyres (it think that's what they're called?) on springfield road, near the prison... they said they'd replace the standard dunlop sport-max for £100...
anyone know what they're like? |
does that include fitting to the bike or to loose wheels ?
either way that's very cheap. most on here use Motorcycle Tyres UK quite pricy but do a good & quick job. I'm having conto sport attacks fitted @ Spantec LTD in South Woodham. for £170. So I'd imagine for the SV that'd be £160. That is ride in ride out service. |
I think that's fitted... but, I only need a new rear, so the £100's not for the pair.
I've heard good things about conti sport attack tyres. I'll check out that link, and give the place in SWF a bell. thanks, |

Had about 4 sets of tyres, 3 puncture repairs and a chain and sprocket set from the place on the a12, always good quick service, would recommend them

Do not use Spantec LTD!!!!
These are robbing *******s. They quoted me £175 for Sport Attacks fitted. Then I turned up & the guy there told me he ordered Contiforce instead as they are better for my bike!! I told him I haven't heard anything about contiforce but he ensured me that they are better than the Sport Attacks & will last longer. Fair enough... Today I do my research....!!!! WTF crap tyre people report 1500 miles out of a rear tyre. + everywhere you look these are at least £20 cheaper than the sport attacks!!! I rang him today - he is still insisting that the contiforce are better. & doesn't want to know anything about overcharging me. The name is loyd - the son of the owner. He would't even pass me on to the owner on the phone. |
Sounds like someone needs a dry slap!!!!
I got my Metzler from Direct Torque, over in Galleywood £205 for the pair fitted to the bike. Maybe not the cheapest, but good friendly service. |

Re: Tyre dealers in Chelmsford..?
Well. There you have it. I finally got me some new tyres. Went on Saturday to "the place on the A12" (it's actually not as mystical as all that).
Very good, friendly service. There wasn't any other bikes there either which was a surprise of happy convenience. Just as they were finishing up another sv'er all the way from sunny Walthamstow pulls up. We laughed and cried and shared stories of good and bad times but eventually it was time for me to go. I didn't even get his name. All I know is that it was his wifes bike and he was South African. *sigh* Still, my tyres are nice. My first new set since I bought the bike and am amazed at the difference they make. Can't wait til I've done the 100 miles they recommended to "take it easy" for. Because then (THEN) I'm really going to, erm, ride as gingerly as I usually do. Anyway, spose I better get on. Tutty boo, comrades. |
