Vote! Shall I wash my jacket?
Come on forum! Show me your collective wisdom....
Shall I wash my Frank Thomas textile jacket? It's filthy and stinks pretty bad. The instructions on the label specifically say 'Do not machine wash' and 'Wash only with sponge and soapy water'. I can't be arsed to ponce about with a sponge, so I'm seriously considering slinging it in the machine with some Nikwax Tech Wash (I'll take all the liners and armour out first). So what shall I do?..... |
narr leave it rammy.

Welcome my son... welcome... to the machine... |
My Bering textiles started leaking a bit this winter, I went to buy waterproofing from bike shop and first thing he asked was "have you washed it" . Apparently a washed jacket is more waterproof and breathes better, not sure I believe that. Anyhows I took all the armour out and did a nikwax tekwash in the machine (label said hand only), followed by a load of the handspray waterproofing, seems to have done the trick.

Is it suppose to be breatheable? If not then I would just chuck it in the machine with normal washing soap.
If so then use the nikwax. But make sure you run your machine through a cycle empty to get all the old detergents out of it. Apparantly this doesnt help the breathability. |
