Finally fixed
 

I have finally bought an indicator for my bike, but upon moving it, the brakes seem to be gripping the disc continually, and its bloody hard to push anywhere. It has been standing outside for about 2 months sadly. Is it ok to just ride it around abit and it will loosen up, or is there a simple way to oil the calipers, or get some de-rusting agent on them or something? I am not very experienced with mechanics, but fairly mechanically minded. I don't have many tools and no oil or grease of autosol or anything, what should I buy?

They would probably benefit from a clean up.You need to unbolt them from the forks,and clean the pistons with brake cleaner.Also ensure the mounting brackets move on their sliders.Push the pistons back into the calipers a bit to ensure they are not seized.Hopefully that should sort them.

Cheers for the response, but I failed at the first hurdle; I couldn't for the life of me get them unbolted off the forks :(. I don't have a socket set, but I was still giving them a good twist with penetrating oil. So in the end I just squirted WD40 into a little hole I found and over what I could see of the piston, and rode it up and down the road a bit. Seems a lot better now. Not a particularly professional job though...

you need a good socket set mate to get them out.

Same problem with my bike. Bike stood in the garage for 4 months and
when I started pushing it out of the garage I noticed that the front
brake is gripping the disc. Just took it for a ride and the brake loosened
up. Checked the temperature of the disc afterwards - no problems.

I had a permanently stuck disc on my ER5, I could even smell the heat driving along, so had to get a new caliper. One question, What is that little protruding thing with a hole and a rubber top on the caliper for? I stuck some WD40 down them cos I couldn't think what else they are for, I hope that is right.

Sounds like the bleed nipple.When bleeding the brakes you unscrew it a bit with some hose pushed over it and brake fluid comes out.Best to leave it alone in the meantime though.WD40 won't hurt it.
