Top Box or Tank Bag
I've got a Baglux tank cover for my K5 but haven't got round to getting the bag for it yet. I'm going to be doing some touring this year with the missus and neither of us like rucksacks. I don't really want a top box but she'll want something to lean on!
Can I fit 40 pairs of shoes in a tank bag or should I go for the top box?;) |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
40 pairs of shoes....................you need a trailer:D :D :D
We tour two-up and have panniers, tank bag and top box. We need all of those, and we travel VERY light. That is for ten day's touring though, you'd need less obviously for a shorter trip. |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
Hmmmm, got any pics?
I'd rather not go for one of those Harley style trailers but I haven't ruled out trying to start a trend!!!:smt098 |

Either it's like sitting in an armchair nice and relaxed or your legs dangle like a school kid on a massive toilet!?!:smt082 :smt082 :smt082 :smt082 |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
Not the clearest pics in the world, but should give you some idea. The trailer with all my shoes in had gone off the edge of an Alp by the time these were taken:D

The panniers sit far enough back to allow me to get my feet on the pegs, and low enough that they're not squashing me. |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
Nice one!
That looks like a great set up, I'll probably do something similar. Where were the photos taken? Nice bike:D |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
Thanks Scorpion.:-D
The photo's are from our holiday last year. Lac Madine I think, if my memory serves me correctly. I would give one word of caution.................I sit quite far forward on the bike, as banging my back against the top box can be quite painful...........they are solid bits of kit. If your better half fancies the idea of something to lean against, you might want to look at some kind of padding to protect her spine. |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
The mother-in-laws fruit cake is quite spongy. I might use that.
Wont tell her tho:smt045 |
Re: Top Box or Tank Bag
my panniers are longer than yours, so i am not sure if i could get a pillion on..........................although, with no rear footpegs & a seat cowl, its not a problem:smt110
