HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
 hi folks..new to this web stuff so be gentle!
anyone know effect of shortening end can on performance of (standard set up) pointy 650? will it need setting up after?extra wadding in end can? also, anybody have any info on tyre pressures? have changed rear end and now will be running 190/50/17 on back and 120/70/17 on front and dunno whether tyre pressure is set to weight of bike or to tyre size? |
Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
First of all welcome. Second..... A 190!!!! What on earth have you lifted that off and surely that buggers the handling? Personally I'd stick to the tyre pressures that are reccomended for the bike you took them off. Not sure about stubbies although there are quite a few people who have done it so i'm sure somebody will be able to help. :D

Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
hi...got a sv1000 arm, gsxr600 shock, wheel, caliper etc..lot of measuring, head scratching and machining so far but nearly there! put a pair of busa usd forks and billet yokes etc on last winter and handling was improved (i think!) so it's fingers crossed time again...!

Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions

Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
yeah sv1000 usually 180 but wanted the fatter look on the back after having the sv650 160 rear section?!
will get some pics on here soon when i've worked out how to:p .. |
Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
If I rember rightly you need a 6" rim to run a 190 section tyre, I'm running a B12 rear with a 180 5.5" rim with no handling probs at all, But a 190 on a 5.5" rim would be pinched and not look any wider than a 180!

Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
nice looking bike billy ! did you have any problems with chain alighnment between sprockets? i had to have an offset front sprocket made..did have a 6" rim originally to go on but it pushed chain out too much and would've been touching frame so went for the 5.5" rim..tyre is on and looks ok..what did you go with on tyre pressure for the back?

Re: HELP! exhaust and tyre pressure questions
Thanks:D The sprocket on the B12 wheel lined up perfectly with no mods at all! The tyre pressure I'm running is 37psi, But with you fitting an oversize tyre you may have to mess around with the pressures untill it feels right!
Oh and welcome to the mad house:cool: ps Origonally Ibought a SRAD600 rear to fit in my SV but there was to much machining involved to make it fit, So I opted for the B12 rear as I aquired a spacer kit off 21QUEST so it was a striaght bolt in. |
