Calipers dragging on disks (Service Interval Question)

How much, if any, drag should the calipers be producing when not in use. When do you know its time to replace the dust seals?( I'm at 20k on a 2000y)

There's a mighty triple echo in here!

Anyway, you should be so lucky. I can't get the pads in one of my calipers to stay anywhere *near* the disk.

After a brisk ride stop and check your discs If one of them is hotter than the other then you have a seased caliper!

So a little drag is ok? My drag is just loud enough to hear when I'm pushing it around.

a little noise is ok the best thing is to get the wheel off the ground, if it doesn't spin easily by hand it's in major need of some work.

Re: Calipers dragging on disks (Service Interval Question)

The calipers on my SV seized up really bad over time and the moment when I realised how bad it had got was when I left it in the work car park, went to push it out of the space and it literally wouldnt budge! The mechanic said it was so bad he could barely push it up the ramp, and yet I had been riding 50 miles to work and back with m,y btrakes like this, not a good idea! Only cost £30 to sort though, so if they aint feeling good just get them serviced, its pretty cheap and if they are like mine it will make a big difference
