Rip Sv

Its semi-official.... the SV is dead. Going to be a Cat A write off according to the workshop guys at Claridons who recovered the bike.

It seems the forks have parted company from the frame, and that the frame has sustained significant damage in the impact with the car. Apparently the only salvageable things [if it were at all salvageable] would be engine and rear of the bike :(

But Im appreciating the good bit is that its not RIP me. The pain in arm/knee just reminds me that Im extremely fortunate again to hit something solid and walk away pretty unscathed.

Im going to now go to Tescos and put a lot of money on the lottery ;) :D

Sorry to hear that :( I've just been quoted £1600 to have mine repaired after a recent collision, but like you I'm feeling pretty lucky that I was able to walk away with minimal damage to myself. Hope you're back on the road soon.

My riding instructor had an orange CBF1000, quite a good bike I thought!

Shame about the bike, maybe you can sell the salvagable parts and get some money back then?

Matt

If its a Cat B, possibly with the help of the recovery guys. Though apparently my insurers dont have provision for me to buy it back as salvage :(

If its a Cat A - no. Apparently the whole bike has to be crushed and destroyed. Though I can remove my after market bits that arent standard provided I give the insurers the standard can to crush. Genius. Though claridons have alreadys said it was a shame about the can being lost in the accident ;) :p :D

Engine still servicable? There's usually a steady supply of people blowing up SV motors so perhaps a discreet swap before the crusher would be in order?Glad you survived it all.:smt041
