Portugal GP

Hey all,

Me and a mate are travelling to portugal for the GP in september. Its my first "big trip" so am looking for any advice you can give re places to stay, routes to take etc... We are leaving from the isle of man and can take up to a week each way. The most I've done in one day is 250 mile, but i think I could manage 400 or more. I'm on a curvy SV650s and my mates on GSXR750. How does the bike cope on long trips and what should i watch out for?

Any help much appreciated.

www.ukgser.com is a great touring site. nip into the forums and have a gander at "travel" and "accomodation". Good info and surprisingly not to smug or stuffy.

MCN motoGP forums are really good for getting the gen for where the big parties/lunacy is going to happen a few weeks before a race.

Done all the Spanish GP's and i imagine the PortugueseGP will be just as mad and like nothing you have ever experienced. Proper nuts!

If you do the sensible thing and get a ferry to either Santander or Bilbao the main place you do not want to miss is the Picos D'Europa. Big mountain range = gnarly roads:D

Buy a big michelin map(orange) and start seeking out the twisties. No point travelling all that way and not get on the good roads.

Cheer, thats a good start... We might be taking the long route down from Calais tho. Not looked at that in too much detail...

If anyone else has their own input, I'll be happy to hear it...

Cheers all
