New bike, sunshine and twisty roads
Happy days are here again.:D
Had an excellent run up to the Penny Garth Cafe in Hawes giving me chance to work out how to ride the new bike, scrub some new tyres in and get a cheeseburger. It definitely likes revs. I went from Settle to Hawes in 2nd gear! That's trundling through the villages at 20mph, about 3000rpm, right up to instant ban territory just before the limiter. I really can't afford to go any faster. At the moment the other gears are just an overdrive to save fuel, 'tis a thirsty beast, about 120 miles to an 18 litre tank with a mixture of town, motorway and country lanes. About 50 miles shy of what I used to get out of the SV. The IL4 haters of the site will be pleased to know the fuel injection isn't as nice as the Suzuki's. It jerks at high revs, but it might just be me, I wasn't very smooth on my SV when I first got it. Not as comfortable as the SV either, but I haven't ridden more than 20 miles in one go since October so my knees should get used to it. On the plus side the brakes and handling are ace, which is handy because that's what I bought it for. Couple of eyeballs today too, a candy blue pointy on the Settle to Ribblehead road and a light blue pointy on the A6068 near the M65 roundabout, anyone on here? |

I pretty regularly switch from the SV to my mates R1, I tried rolling the throttle on the R1 coming out of a bend like I do my bike, the thing nearly took my arm off & threw me in a hedge! I stayed on, and it taught me a valuable lesson. Have fun with the new bike, I'm still looking at chopping, still haven't made my mind up... |
