Bad Day Out
 

Had a huge argument with the wife yesterday so I thought "Why not head out on the bike and clear your head". DOnned the power ranger kit and leapt onto my trusty SV. However due to my mind not being completely on the task in hand and it being my first aggresive road ride this year this happened.

I'm in 2 minds whether to make it a streetfighter or to repair it to stock. I know it's not quick enough to be a proper streetfighter but I like the look of them and it may save me a few quid. Anyway, anyone who's riding in anything but leathers should think on. I hit the deck at about 65mph approaching a corner and got away with bruising. No big cuts and no broken bones. Also the bike was rideable for 30 miles back to work. Big thanks to the 3 other bikers who came running over to check that I was alright and helped me up with the bike. Luckily the crash bungs were absolutely unmarked after the incident:(

Whilst I fully understand using the bike to "clear the head", but you must remember it's not like a car, you do need your wits about you.

Still glade you came off so lightly, if the bike rode back OK then the forks maybe straight, so you could be in luck, a number of threads address a faired to naked conversion, so give it a search although SV panells are cheap so shouldn't be to much to fix up.

Damn, thats is a bad day out.

Still at least you are ok.

Gotta say, it is a stark reminder that you cannot afford to ride a bike with anything less than 100% concentration.

I know I shouldn't have gone out on the bike in the mental state I was in but that's a different story altogether and I'm not using [emo] [/emo] tags:p.

I did have my wits about me for the majority of the ride but I did screw up big time on that corner. Nothing else to blame apart from me really. I'm aware that I was very lucky. I'll price up SV panels tomorrow. As all but one of the coloured panels are smashed I could go for a full colour change and lose some speed:p

Ouch! Hope that you're in better shape than your fairing - that can always be fixed up :(

Will do mate. After numerous beers and a bottle of red I'm felling prety good. I'm not too bad anyway. Hurt my right wrist and my right ankle but only tot he point of annoyance not to the point of injury. I did consider quitting biking when I was riding back. After about 10 minutes I decided not to. It's a part of me and what I enjoy.

The wife doesn't see it like that mind!

My wife is not at all happy with me returning to two wheels - she used to ride pillion in London 15 years ago just for the convenience of getting to work :rolleyes:

Lord knows what stick I'll get if anything happens - even worse is that I'm now guilty of getting our 19 year old son interested in biking ;)

I'm just glad you ok. If it had been a different story your wife would have felt dreadful :( Take care, I understand the ride to clear your head also, but there have been times when I have gone out on the bike, realised that I just wasn't with it, and come home. Have to say it sounds to me that it maybe wasn't like that for you ..... and just one of them things. At least you ok, bike looks sad tho :( ;)
